Can't Believe it's Christmas on Wednesday!

Since opening Victoria at Home I have been working 7 days a week and my
mind has been spinning!  All in a good way, but it has been crazy busy and
I feel so fortunate to have everyone be so supportive and frankly, it's humbling.

Here are a couple shots of our holiday windows.

The store has been decorated for the holidays and I love the flocked trees!
I was a little apprehensive about making the store too much of a Christmas shop,
but I think we found just the right balance.

The fabrics in this window are from Aerin Lauder and her new collection
from Lee Jofa.  The red velvet on the left is called Montrose Velvet in color
Plum/Red and the solid velvet is called Seabreeze in color Leaf.  The center floral
is a classic Lee Jofa linen called Holly Hock full of reds and greens.

Have a wonderful holiday wherever you may.  With family or friends, relax and enjoy!

Open for Business !!

We are open for business!!

Front display window
The shop has two levels- the retail space itself and then a mezzanine level where we have the design studio.

Front room in progress

While I was searching for just the right location for my home furnishings shop, I have been traveling to find all the right furniture and furnishings for my shop.  Comfortable furniture was one of my top priorities and of course lots of great accessories. I only offer items of high quality that I think my clients would love or that I would want in my own home.  For example, I am working with several different sources for great pillows.  Velvets, linens, florals, crewels all trimmed and finished to a designers standards but without the wait!  Lamps, chandeliers, side tables, mirrors and the list goes on!

One of my favorite vignettes!  I'm tempted to install this in my own house!!

Me-taking a break!!

Come by and see what we have done!  We are getting new things everyday and I'm thrilled to
see the response from everyone!

It's Official!

Many of you know that I have always wanted to have my own shop.  Some call me crazy and maybe I am.  I have been looking for shop space in Old Town Alexandria for the past couple of years waiting for the perfect spot and I finally found it!

Victoria at Home is announcing it's new shop location at
1125 King Street in Alexandria Virginia

Victoria at Home is a home furnishings boutique.  I will continue to offer my interior design services which include pre-construction strategy and materials specification along with interior decoration. Customers now have access to lines I have sourced for private clients over many years.  The boutique will offer a carefully curated collection of antiques, art , decorative pillows along with new pieces such as upholstery.

(not my sign)
Great front windows!! Front door has been painted in Farrow & Ball Babouche!

 Cash wrap
Tons of shelving for displaying all the accessories I have!

From the back of the store

Up the stairs is a mezzanine for my design studio-YEAH!

(All the pictures I took before I signed the lease.  There was a pop-up store there and those are her things.)

So I have repainted the inside and out, floor covering is being installed tomorrow, logo, signs, website, new face book page, bags all in the works.  For the last several weeks I have been receiving deliveries (YEAH!) and my upholstery arrives next week!  I want to be open the weekend of the 24th and it's going to be close!

So now you know what I have been working on for the past several months and I will keep you posted on the progress.

Come and visit!!!

Fabulous Jamie Beckwith Collection

Interior designer Jamie Beckwith not only creates gorgeous interiors out  of her Nashville Tennessee office but she also is the creative power behind the Jamie Beckwith Collection of architectural wood wall and flooring.

I was on the internet researching (again), and don't know quite how I stumbled upon her flooring collection but I was thrilled when I found it! The hardwoods are available in a variety of species such as walnut, sawn white oak or plain sawn white oak, maple or ash and offered in a number of different finishes.  The patterns are what I found to be so beautiful.

I really love the wood on the fireplace!  I think this is a stunning alternative to stone, brick or ceramic tile surrounds.  Something to think about!

Commercial installation on the wall.
Powder room installation

If you felt like your wall needed a little bling, she's got that too!!
These can be set into a wall installation.

All pictures are from the Jamie Beckwith website.

Working for You!

I've been doing some research today for a client's office and thought I would share some of the pieces that caught my eye.  A few will be presented for her project and others I just like.  These items have a pretty quick turnaround time in case you might need to do some sprucing up before the holidays!!!
Fabulous finish!!

10" deep for those super skinny spots!

Wonderful texture on the frame with black glass.

Beautiful transitional styling.

Gorgeous marble!

Iron finish or...
Gold finish!
Have a great weekend everyone!

I'm Thinking of a Bar Cart...
I keep seeing bar carts everywhere!  Atlanta, New York, High Point -all the shows have them front and center.  We have a shop here in Alexandria called The Hour  and I always stop and gawk at the windows. They have the barware I want on my yet to be purchased bar cart!

With the holidays coming up (I know!) maybe a bar cart could be in your future!
